Zodl wallet swap
Swap BTC, ETH, USDC and dozens more into ZEC from inside the Zodl app.
- Best for
- Anyone who already holds other crypto and wants private ZEC on their phone.
- ZEC arrives
- Shielded, inside Zodl
- Custody
- Your wallet holds the keys
- Fees
- Network and swap fees shown in the quote
How to do it
- Install Zodl from zodl.com or your app store and create a wallet. Write down the recovery phrase and keep it offline.
- Tap Swap.
- Pick the coin you are paying with, and check the network it is on (for example USDC on Base or on Arbitrum).
- Enter the amount and a refund address on that same network, in case the swap fails.
- Review the quote, then confirm. Zodl shows a deposit address and QR code.
- From the wallet that holds your coins, send the exact amount shown, on the network shown.
- Tap I've sent the funds. Swaps usually finish within a few minutes and the ZEC lands in your shielded balance.
Who sees what
Plain facts about who can see this route and who holds your money along the way, with sources. Every route involves some trade-off.
- Who can see it
- The chain you pay from shows your deposit publicly. NEAR Intents and the market makers that fill the order see the amounts, your deposit and refund addresses, and the ZEC payout.
- Who holds your funds
- Not Zodl. Your coins wait at a one-time NEAR Intents deposit address until the swap settles or is refunded, usually within minutes. A swap under review can be held for weeks.
- Identity checks
- None from Zodl or NEAR Intents for ordinary swaps. Recovering a mis-sent deposit can involve verification.
- Compliance screening
- Swaps go through NEAR Intents, which checks addresses with AML Portal, Binance AML, AMLBot, PureFi and TRM Labs. Its terms allow freezing funds during a review, and Zodl says it cannot release held funds.
Incidents
- ZachXBT pointed out that refunds from NEAR Intents swaps in Zashi (now Zodl) went to transparent addresses, letting observers link swaps. The team promised fresh addresses and shielded refunds. cryptopolitan.com
- About $589,000 in USDT from a swap of shielded ZEC was held in NEAR Intents compliance review and was still unreleased 50 days later. cryptotimes.io
- An exploit of about $3.8 million briefly paused NEAR Intents. It resumed with a few chains still restricted, and affected users are to be compensated in full. crypto.news

Good to know
- Swaps run through NEAR Intents and follow NEAR's terms of service. NEAR screens transactions for compliance, and in at least one large swap in 2026 funds were held for weeks while under review.
- NEAR can only refund mis-sent deposits worth about $300 or more, so double-check the network before sending.
- Zodl, formerly called Zashi, is built by Zcash Open Development Lab.
