Web swaps
Instant swap services
Accountless swap sites such as Trocador, ChangeNOW and FixedFloat.
- Best for
- People who want a quick swap from almost any coin, without an account.
- ZEC arrives
- Shielded on some services
- Custody
- You rely on the service to complete the swap
- Fees
- Included in the quoted rate
How to do it
- Open a swap site. Trocador compares rates across many of these services at once.
- Choose your coin and ZEC, and enter an amount.
- Paste your Zcash address. Some services accept shielded addresses; if one rejects yours, use your wallet's transparent address and shield on arrival.
- Send your coins to the deposit address shown.
- The service sends ZEC once your deposit confirms.
Who sees what
Plain facts about who can see this route and who holds your money along the way, with sources. Every route involves some trade-off.
- Who can see it
- The chain you pay from is public. The swap service sees the amounts and both addresses, and ChangeNOW's terms say it can collect your IP address. Trocador passes trades to partner services, which log different things.
- Who holds your funds
- You send coins to the service and rely on it to send the ZEC, usually within minutes. A swap flagged for checks can be frozen.
- Identity checks
- Usually none, but a flagged swap can need ID. ChangeNOW requires ID checks for residents of the EU, the US, Japan, the UAE, Canada and some other countries.
- Compliance screening
- ChangeNOW runs anti-money-laundering checks and can freeze or refuse a swap. FixedFloat may freeze funds that come from flagged sources. Trocador rejects addresses on US sanctions lists.
